In the third episode of Gibson TVs Icons features one of the most iconic rock musicians of our generation, Jerry Cantrell. The show focuses on his early years in Spanaway, Washington and the birth of the Seattle sound. It also takes a deep dive into his 30-plus year career as the guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter of Alice In Chains, and as a solo artist.
Besides being a part of Alice In Chains, Cantrell has released two solo albums and contributed music to multiple major film soundtracks. Jerry released his first solo album, Boggy Depot, in 1998 with his second album, Degradation Trip, coming out in 2002. He is also in the studio now working on his upcoming third solo album.
As for soundtracks, Cantrell contributed music for Spider-Man, The Cable Guy, John Wick 2, Last Action Hero, and The Punisher. His song “Setting Sun” appeared on DC’s Dark Knights: Metal soundtrack in 2018. “A Job to Do” for John Wick: Chapter 2 and “Setting Sun” can be heard below.
