A Neenah city council member and former school board member died from colon cancer.
Ald. Christopher Kunz was 55.
Mayor Dean Kaufert says Kunz became a poll worker after moving to Neenah, and he ran for city council in 2013. He says Kunz was diagnosed about a year ago, and he didn’t miss a meeting afterward.
He describes Kunz as forward thinking, and he would look ahead 20 years when they would make decisions, and not just two or three. Kaufert says he had strong opinions on fiscal issues, the environment, and sustainability.
He says Kunz also was an author, and he released his first novel after he got sick.
Kaufert adds he was someone who loved Neenah. Kunz helped organizations like the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum, and Future Neenah.
