Almost all of the inmates and staff at Wisconsin prisons that tested positive for coronavirus have recovered.
The Department of Corrections is more than halfway done with plans to test everyone at all facilities.
Spokesman John Beard says they’ve had 269 cases among inmates, and only six are active. Sixty-six staff members have tested positive, and three cases are still active.
Beard says they’re working to add more videoconferencing technology at their prisons, since visitors aren’t allowed. By the end of the month, they’ll have the technology at more than half of their facilities.
The Green Bay prison already has videoconferencing visits, but it’s not in place at the Oshkosh facility yet.
