A new Appleton community group held its first event this weekend — a free farmers market.
Appleton Community Catalyst set it up at Houdini Plaza on Saturday.
The group collected donations in the morning, and then people in need could get free groceries in the afternoon. About 325 pounds of produce, and nearly 1,200 items were donated to the free farmers market.
Co-founder Ndemazea Fonkem hopes their group can draw attention to racial injustices, and create positive change during a time of unrest.
The organizers of the group are 2020 high school graduates.
