During an interview with Download Festival TV, Deftones drummer Abe Cunningham, said that the band had officially finished their new album and hope to release it this year. Cunningham said that they actually tracked everything last summer but we actually just completed everything. He added:
“It should be coming along, hopefully, maybe September. I heard something. I can’t remember… We haven’t really discussed it too deeply other than we plan on it coming out this summer.”
He did question if it made sense to release it if that can’t support it with a tour, but said that is something they are going to have to figure out.
During the interview, he also talked about the never released Eros album. Cunningham said that the album was never completed. He understands that people want to hear the last album to feature bassist Chi Cheng before he died in a car accident, but they never finished it.
The full interview can be seen below.
The Deftones postponed their 2020 North American tour but have plans to reschedule everything for 2021.
