The financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on local governments likely won’t be felt until next year.
League of Wisconsin Municipalities Director Jerry Deschane says cities and villages stand to lose $400 million in revenue this year, and it will have to be made up somehow. He believes many will go into debt this year or delay some capital projects to get through 2020.
The League believes the City of Oshkosh could lose $1 million in room tax revenue this year, along with $200,000 in parking revenue, and $150,000 in court fines.
