“Black Lipstick” is the first song Powerman 5000 has released off their upcoming album The Noble Rot, which will be available on August 28th. Spider One said that “Black Lipstick was the first song that was written for the album and that The Noble Rot is more experimental and electronic than the previous one.
For the video, Spider One created a fake music show called Pop Toppers and a fictitious female goth band, Holly Holly And The Night Cloaks to play “Black Lipstick”.
In May, Powerman 5000 teased their own version of “We Got The Beat” by the Go-Go’s. Spider said that their song is quite different than the original. He said that people think the song about is dancing. He always saw it as being young and lost and surrendering to conformity. So, they tried to make it more ominous to match that feeling. “We Got The Beat” will be on the new album.
