There won’t be a Wisconsin State Fair in the Milwaukee area this summer.
The chair of the fair board is canceling, because of the pandemic. It’s the first time since 1945 that the 169-year-old event won’t be held.
Governor Evers says going to the fair with his wife, Kathy, has been a tradition for 51 straight years. He says it’s certainly a major part of their lives, and they’ll go again at some point in time.
Evers says the fair brings tens and tens of thousands of people together at the same time, and he’s guessing there isn’t enough space on the grounds to do a lot of social distancing.
The fair typically attracts more than one million people to eat cream puffs, check out 4-H exhibits, and go to concerts.
