A federal judge in Green Bay is denying a De Pere businessman’s request to be released early from his prison sentence.
Ron Van Den Heuvel is serving 7-1/2 years at a federal prison camp in Duluth, after he was convicted of defrauding investors out of millions of dollars.
He asked for compassionate release, because of health problems and fears of contracting COVID-19 while behind bars.
The 65-year-old Van Den Heuvel wrote a letter to the judge, saying he has diabetes and he’s lost weight, teeth, and a toe.
