Sevendust guitarist/vocalist Clint Lowery’s latest edition to his Lockdown Solo Seesion is Nine Inch Nails’ “Hurt”. While in quarantine, Lowery has been posting videos of him performing songs from is solo projects with the newest song added being “Hurt”.
The Nine Inch Nails and Johnny Cash versions of “Hurt” can be heard below. According to Lowery:
“My cover of ‘Hurt’ from NIN. Trent Reznor has been a hero of mine for many years. Musically no one has ever consistently inspired me. From the first song I heard until the most current piece he has released I’ve found tremendous inspiration and escape in his work.
When we covered this years ago on the day Johnny Cash passed away it helped me find a voice for myself. It made me realize you don’t have to have a technical and trained voice to sing with heart.
I don’t consider myself a lead singer in fact, but I do believe what I sing. I believe the words and feel the pain, happiness and relief when I sing.”
In November, Lowery talked with Cutter and Kaytie on Cutter’s Rockcast about his solo album God Bless the Renegades and the upcoming Sevendust album which, at the time, he said should be out in 2020. That conversation can be heard below.
