A driver might have saved a man’s life by stopping and knocking on the door of a burning house in downtown Fond du Lac.
Fire Chief Peter O’Leary is calling the driver a hero, because a man was sleeping on the first floor, and he got out safely. He says if the person wouldn’t have stopped, it possible the man could’ve died.
He says flames were shooting out of second-floor windows when firefighters got there this afternoon. The house is on 7th Street, just east of Main Street.
O’Leary says a dog died, and a cat is being treated.
