Deftones drummer Abe Cunningham jumped on Instagram to give an update on the bands upcoming ninth album. He said the COVID-19 has slowed the process down:
“We’re currently mixing it. Given the current situation, it’s been a bit difficult to get everyone in the same room. We can’t. So, we’re at least still doing that. I wanted to thank you for your patience, obviously, and, of course, your interest in that. It’s coming.”
Most the of recording sessions for the new album were completed last summer.
Cunningham also said that they are starting a series of livestreamed events with their programmer/sampler Frank Delgado set to kick off the series. He will be doing a live DJ set on the band’s Twitch tonight at 10 p.m. CT.
The Deftones were forced to cancel their Australia and New Zealand Touramid coronavirus concerns. The band announced that they will still be selling the merch from that tour with the money going to support their road crew.
The Deftones North American Summer Tour with Gojira and Poppy is currently still scheduled and will make a stop at The Eagles Ballroom on August 8th.
