Several local businesses are teaming up to make the plastic parts for the protective gear for some health care workers at ThedaCare.
Those pieces are for mechanical respirators, and they’re supposed to be thrown out after each use. The respirators look a little bit like a bicycle helmet, with a face shield.
Dale Gisi is the president of ThedaCare’s Appleton and Neenah hospitals, and he thinks the partnership gives workers greater peace of mind. He says it also means they don’t have to sanitize and reuse so many parts.
Gisi says he’s reaching out to other local health care providers to see if they’d be interested in ordering the parts locally.
