Workers at many clerks offices around the state have been going through absentee ballots before the election results can start to be released his afternoon. Appleton city spokesman Chad Doran says they’ve been doing that for days because of the unprecedented mail-in totals.
He thinks the past record was 3,000. Doran belives the city clerk processsed about 17,000 this time around. Doran says they’re using staff from other departments to help.
Appleton voters will have a new mayor after the numbers are in. Jim Clemons and Jake Woodford are trying to take over for Mayor Tim Hanna. He was in office for 24 years, and is the city’s longest-serving mayor. We’ll have the results as they come in on WHBY and WHBY-dot-com.
