The head of the state corrections department is confident they can avoid any outbreaks of coronavirus in Wisconsin prisons.
Two inmates at the Oshkosh prison tested positive for COVID-19 this week.
Secretary Kevin Carr believes there are many challenges, including overcrowding and having people in confined spaces. But he says they’ve had pandemic plans for many years, and they’re continuously updated.
The department’s website lists one other positive case, and that inmate is at the prison in the Portage area.
Staff members have tested positive at prisons in Waupun and Milwaukee.
