Almost two weeks after they were supposed to leave Peru, an Oshkosh couple is back at home.
Adam and Jaime Martinez were picked for a charter flight from the U.S. government over the weekend. After some connecting trips, they made it to Appleton on Sunday.
He says it was a crazy ordeal, and they’re happy to be back. He thinks there are about 2,500 Americans still in Peru, and he hopes they can get home in the next week. Adam believes the U.S. Embassy is getting a better handle on the situation, and workers are a lot more organized.
He says they’re going to self-quarantine for 14 days, at their house.
The president of Peru closed the country’s borders and airports, one day before Adam and Jaime were supposed to fly home. They had to wait to get an email to get on a government flight.
