A couple from Oshkosh is stranded in Peru, and hoping for a flight to get home.
That country’s airport closed earlier this month, when the president of Peru shut down the borders.
Adam and Jaime Martinez have to stay in a hotel while they wait.
Jaime says they thought there could be a chance of coronavirus “flare-ups” in some areas, while they were on vacation, but the situation got a lot more serious. She says they were scheduled to fly out the day after the airport closed, and they’re kind of kicking themselves because of that.
Adam says the U.S. government is running some flights out of the country, but they haven’t been picked yet. He thinks were about 5,000 Americans in the country when the airport closed. Since then, he says about 1,000 have made it home.
Right now, they won’t be able to get on a commercial flight until at least April 13th, when the quarantine is scheduled to come to an end.
