Governor Evers says he doesn’t have the authority to move next month’s election.
He’s calling on people to vote by mail, instead.
Evers says even if he could delay the April 7th date, it’s possible the coronavirus situation could be worse in May or June.
He says legally, all of the local offices that are on the ballot would be empty. He believes all of those positions need to be filled to help get the state through the coronavirus pandemic.
The state is working to make sure there would be enough poll workers, because many of them are older. The possible replacements could include state employees, volunteers, and Wisconsin National Guard members.
