Zakk Wylde is making use of his downtime now that he won’t be on the road with Ozzy Osbourne this spring due to the postponement of Ozzy’s tour. Wylde decided to use that time to work on a new album. He said:
“I’m going to do some writing, I guess, in April, and [in] May and June, we’ll [record] and have that one ready to roll. I don’t demo or stockpile shit. Never have. I’m not like Prince, where he’s recording stuff all the time. I just like to come up with a riff or an idea and be like, ‘Why don’t we track that one today?’ It’s like the beginning of a new season. It’s always fun.”
In addition to playing guitar with Ozzy and his Black Label Society duties, in the next few months Wylde’s Black Sabbath cover band, Zakk Sabbath, will be releasing a new album Vertigo, which is a track-for-track rendition of Sabbath’s self-titled 1970 debut album.
Recently Rex Brown and Dimebag Darrell’s girlfriend Rita Haney said they would be “in” for a Pantera reunion show with Phil Anselmo and Zakk Wylde. Rita said:
“I’d definitely would [be okay with a tour]. I’d wanna be at every show,” but added, “But as far as trying to put Pantera back together? No, that’s distasteful without those other guys. But I think as a tribute, it would be a really great thing because I know, from a fan’s point, if I hadn’t been able to see them play or hear those songs – I can imagine other people as well, I think it’s great that they could at least see it performed, and by people that truly love ’em. So, yeah, I think it would be a really cool thing.”
