Brown County prosecutors are raising concerns about the attitude, and the past, of a 15-year-old girl accused of killing her nephew in a fire.
Marcelia Fonseca is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and arson, in the death of the 11-month-old boy in Green Bay last June.
Deputy District Attorney Wendy Lemkuil says when investigators questioned Fonseca after the baby’s death, she told investigators “he’s gone, so what.” She describes her attitude as “cavalier” throughout the investigation.
The infant was in a playpen, and Lemkuil says they believe the teen started a fire in the same room.
Prosecutors say Fonseca admitted when she was six, she put a pillow over her sister’s head and tried to kill the girl. They say a Child Protective Services report from 2018 stated the teen had been harming her younger siblings.
