Assembly Republicans approve a bill that would create protocols for submitting and tracking untested sexual assault evidence kits.
The bill also requires police to notify immigration officials of sexual assaults and allow student victims to enter school choice programs.
Minority Leader Gordon Hintz of Oshkosh calls that language “poison pills” that have nothing to do with the issue.
Speaker Robin Vos argues the additions improve the measure.
The Senate already passed a similar bill without the immigration and school choice provisions.
They’ll now take up this amended bill.
