No one was hurt in a fire at a 24-unit apartment building in New London yesterday afternoon.
Everyone got out on their own, but crews did rescue a small dog and cat from a smoke-filled apartment.
Firefighters were called to the 300 block of Oshkosh Street around 4:30 p.m. and found heavy black smoke coming from an apartment on the first floor.
Officials don’t believe the building has structural damage, but they say it does have smoke damage.
They say the fire started on or near a kitchen stove.
