A Facebook group based in the Oshkosh area is helping people in need.
Zaroni’s owner Jon Doemel created “Heroes of Oshkosh” with posts asking for donations of specific items. He says they vet people asking for things like beds, tables and food, and then group members jump in.
Doemel says they realized that if you can tap into the community, the potential is endless. He calls what they’ve already been able to accomplish “unbelievable.”
Doemel says he was originally thought they’d get 300 members. They’re already at about 6,500, and people now have to ask to join and answer a question.
He says they have volunteers called “Hero Haulers” that will pick up and deliver donated furniture.
Doemel was on AM Fox Valley on WHBY today.
