More than six months after a historic building burned down in downtown De Pere, prominent donors are buying the site.
The Mulva family now owns much of the 100 block of South Broadway.
Family spokeswoman Bridget O’Connor of O’Connor Connective says they’re going to start working on plans for that land, and the property stretching to the Claude Allouez Bridge. She says any proposal would meet the vision for the cultural district.
She says mixed-use projects, with restaurants, shops, and different types of entertainment could be included.
O’Connor expects they’ll be working on a vision for much of next year.
Planning also continues for the Mulva Cultural Center, and construction could start late next spring. Michael Van Asten of Appleton is going to be the center’s CEO.
