Bring Me the Horizon have released the official video for the song “In the Dark.” The video was written, directed, and edited by frontman Oli Sykes and was co-directed and produced by videographer Brian Cox. The video stars Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe winning actor Forest Whitaker.
Sykes spoke on directing the video for “In the Dark”:
“‘In The Dark’ is my first ‘official’ directing effort. We were in the midst of planning to shoot the video with a director in L.A. Three days before the shoot, I got a call from Forest saying he was in London and available, so ignoring everyone who said it was impossible to make it happen in time, I called our videographer Brian and asked him if he wanted to help me direct a video. Two days later, we were shooting in London! It was a crazy, emotional few days and I was very lucky to bag an insanely talented crew to assist me.”
It seems odd for Bring Me the Horizon to have crossed paths with actor Forest Whitaker but Sykes told NME that Whitaker’s daughter is a fan of the band:
“We met Forest a couple of years back. His daughter is a fan of the band and he came to a show with her. Any time that we’re in the same town, he usually comes down to a show. … This is something that we’ve been trying to do for ages. He was actually going to be the main guy in ‘Mantra,’ but it just didn’t work out in the end because of timing and scheduling, so it ended up being me.”
Bring Me The Horizon is set to wrap up their current tour with Poppy and Sleeping With Sirens at the end of the month.
