Some young children got a chance to learn about fire safety yesterday.
Suamico firefighters visited TenderHearts Learning Center to stress that firefighters are friends, and aren’t scary.
One of the firefighters was in full gear when Capt. Brent Ward talked with the kids about what to do if there’s a fire. He urged them not to hide, and come to a firefighter if they need help.
Ward says it’s also important to let them know about the importance of closing bedroom doors at night. He says doors can block smoke, and a fire, for up to five minutes.
It’s Fire Prevention Week across the country.
