Two of the worst railroad crossings in downtown Oshkosh will be fixed this fall.
City Manager Mark Rohloff says the Canadian National Railroad will be doing the work, and the streets will be closed later this month.
The Oshkosh Common Council is expected to vote tonight on street closure requests for Waugoo and Otter streets to do that rail crossing work.
Members could also take up a development plan for the new Chick-fil-A restaurant.
The fast-food joint would be on N. Washburn Street, next to the new Verve Credit Union building.
Rohloff says the project calls for an out-of-the ordinary design with the drive-thru facing Washburn Street. While he’s not thrilled with that setup, putting the drive-thru in another spot would create some safety concerns.
Mayor Lori Palmeri voted against the Chick-fil-A design, when it went before the plan commission last week.
The owners of the proposed Mineshaft Restaurant in Oshkosh are looking to change their TIF development agreement with the city.
Rohloff says the group needed to seek different means of financing the project. He calls the adjustments “minor”
One example of a TIF agreement that was altered several times by the city is the Menominee Nation Arena.
Oshkosh is pledging up to $1.7 million for the Mineshaft project.
