Starset frontman Dustin Bates spoke with Cutter and Kaytie today about the band’s new album Divisions due out September 13th. When talking about the band ability to use digital marketing to their advantage, Dustin said:
“I kind of as an engineer just sort of always try to problem solve and use the things at my disposal. This band is a cinematic experience not just in the music but in the marketing and in the videos and in the narrative and in the live show… everything is movie-esc and as a result the marketing is also that way. And we’re also multi-media and it’s just fun to find new ways to hack old marketing methods but also create new ones and market in between various media. It’s always fun.”
Dustin also spoke about the last track on the album “The Diving Bell” which will get a video debut later today. Check out the teaser of the video below.
“Even releasing this song today, I cringe a little bit cause its the closer of the record and its not as sacrin as some of the other ones, it’s darker, its better experienced on the record itself so I’m always wondering how it will be received. Especially, we like to tease out songs like this, it’s not a single, its not intended for radio so I’m always wondering how people will receive it because they think its a single cause it came out before the record.”
Starset’s new album Divisions hits retailers on September 13th. You can pre-order the album HERE and watch the videos for the songs “Manifest” and “Where the Skies End” below. Oh and by the way… it looks like Green Bay might be on the list of touring spots in 2020:
“Actually on the list the agent sent us dates and we had at least 20 markets that weren’t hit and he was like ‘we’re saving those’ so I would say look forward to 2020 cause that’s certainly on our short list.”
