Now that the site of a former building in downtown De Pere is cleared out a city official is hopeful that something new will go there.
A historic building in the 100 block of South Broadway was destroyed by fire in April. Development Services Director Kim Flom says the owner plans to sell the site and she expects a lot of interest. She says it usually takes three to five years for a development projects to finish.
Flom thinks a mixed-use building with apartments and retail space would be a good fit.
Right now crews are planting grass on the site. They recently finished removing all of the debris.
