The number 1 rock song in the country this week in 1995 belongs to Alanis Morissette with her track “You Oughta Know.” It’s weird to see that until you take yourself back to 1995. The track was released as the lead single from her 3rd studio album Jagged Little Pill and at the time, fit in perfectly with the scope of rock. As Morissette’s career continued, she became more of a singer/ songwriter… but that doesn’t stop her from having rock roots. “You Oughta Know” received numerous accolades; in 1996, the single was nominated for three Grammy Awards, winning the awards for Best Rock Song and Best Female Rock Vocal Performance.
