A historic building in downtown Appleton will be turned into apartments.
The Post-Crescent on Washington Street, north of College Avenue, will be part of a $12 million housing project called the Crescent Lofts.
City spokesman Chad Doran says the building’s Art Deco architecture is pretty unique to the area, and the developer will be preserving it. The building will be expanded, to create nearly 70 low-to-moderate income apartments.
Doran expects construction will start in the fall, and it will be finished by March of 2021.
Doran says the developer is still working with the Post-Crescent to see if the newspaper’s offices will stay in the building.
