Here is your Razor Underground Recap for June 2nd, 2019.
We kicked off a STACKED episode of Razor Underground with the latest from Pink Fly. When your boss emails you and says, “I am a big fan and you should take a look at playing this for Underground,” you need to pay attention. And that is what I did. While undeniably punk rock, “Happy” definitely has heavy dose of ’90’s nostalgia thrown in. Take a listen.
Next up, a band that has been on my radar to include in on Underground for some time. These guys are one of the most hard-working underground bands out there and if you are in ANY WAY connected to the larger regional scene, you know exactly what I am talking about. The band is Shallow Side. Here’s their latest, “Sound the Alarm”!
I had the opportunity to chat with Nate from the band Elisium. These Virginia natives recently relocated to the mid-west because they found the touring opportunities to be more lucrative and the fans to be more receiving of what Elisium was all about. They have a show coming up at Phatheadz in Green Bay. Details can be found HERE. Check out the full conversation and their single “Pain to Memory” below!
I also span the latest from Ignite the Fire. These guys play a very expansive version of rock. Fans of Creed, Alterbridge and Our Lady Peace will appreciate this band. There are also orchestral elements to found throughout their breakout track “Echoes”. Here’s the video!
Every once in awhile, as I am cleaning out my email on a Monday morning, I come across a gem. A diamond in the rough, so to speak. It excites me to be different and to challenge the definition of what rock is. I enjoy bringing attention to bands that hit every emotional button correctly, and that is undeniably the case with Chicago’s Violet Crime. Not traditionally what you would find on the Razor playlist, I can’t help playing this song because every time I interact with it, I have to listen to it straight through. Check out “Young” below!
To wrap this recap up, I had the chance to play the latest from Defeater! The song is called Mother’s Sons and is an ABSOLUTE BANGER. It make the part of my brain that love’s early 2000’s metal/hardcore allĀ tingly. Do yourself a favor and turn this one up!
