Five Finger Death Punch bassist Chris Kael took to Instagram to post a picture of himself with the boots he wore in the video for “House of the Rising Sun.” The boots, with the dirt still on them, are currently up for sale on eBay with the money set to go to a friend. Kael’s post reads:
“Want to own some INCREDIBLE Chris Kael memorabilia? Here’s your chance to own the Doc Marten boots I wore in the “House of The Rising Sun” video. I’ve kept them in storage having originally planned on donating them to The Hard Rock someday. Well, something has come up and I see an opportunity for these boots to do some real good for a friend and her family.’
‘A longtime friend of mine has a sister in some legal trouble overseas. I’m helping her raise money to help with legal fees to keep her sister out of jail in a foreign country. It’s a way for me to help a friend’s family in need AND a way to get these boots into the hands of a fan while helping.’
‘She has posted the boots on EBay. I’ll be personally shipping them directly from Vegas to the highest bidder. I’ll happily sign the boots for whoever wins the auction as well. Just ask!
Happy bidding my friends. And, thank you for helping me help a friend and her family. Link to the auction is also in my bio.”
The message on eBay that pairs with the boots reads:
“A little back story on why these are being sold by me and not Chris himself:
My baby sister got caught up in serious legal trouble overseas, to no fault of her own. Detained at the airport and then thrown into a detention center. The country she is detained in has been ruthless in releasing her home, and it is nearing the 2 month mark. We have hired the best lawyers and doing everything we can to get her home, but the fees are piling up to a number we just can’t stand up to on our own. But giving up is never an option.
Chris Kael is a dear and longtime friend and has graciously donated these boots to sell, so that all the proceeds can go towards helping my family.
I hope a fan will find great joy in owning a unique piece of music memorabilia”
The current bid on the boots is sitting at a little over $1500 with the auction ending on Sunday at 2:27PM/CST.
