Last weekend I headed down to Columbus, Ohio for the first edition of the Sonic Temple Festival… formerly known as Rock on the Range. While there, I had the chance to catch up with Badflower frontman Josh Katz who was at the beginning of getting sick. The band had just finished their performance about 30 minutes before heading into the media tent for press.
When discussing the lead up to the release of “OK, I’m Sick,” Josh talked about his confidence followed by his nerves:
“I was panicking a little bit the week before the release. The whole few months of making the album I was like ‘this is the best shit ever. I’m so pumped for this. Nobody’s done anything like this before. Like there are certain key lyrics, and like, this is some of the coolest… like I was just really really proud.” And then the week before it came out I was freaking out. ‘People are actually gonna listen to this. I’m gonna be vilified. Nobody’s gonna get it. Bobody’s gonna like it. And I know our record company is gonna do their job and its going to get in peoples faces and I have no idea what they’re gonna do with it.’ So it’s just been very positive and very good that people understand it.”
If you haven’t had the opportunity to listen to Badflower’s debut album, do yourself a favor and enjoy the journey…
