S.O.S. has now been on the Canadian Active Rock Chart for 54 weeks. It has been #1 for 4 weeks on U.S. Active Rock chart & #1 audience for 7 weeks. It’s been on the U.S. Active Rock chart for 34 total weeks. That now makes it the longest charting record at U.S. Active rock that went #1 in at least 5 years!
Over the course of nearly 15-years, Mediabase’s Canadian Active Rock chart (which was originally known simply as ‘Rock’) has been home to 1,506 songs, ranging from massive international smashes to one-hit-wonders that disappeared after a single week. Of all these songs, about 46% were able to register a run of 20 weeks or more. Just over 2% of all titles since April 2004 have logged more than 30 chart weeks, while only four songs have shown the staying power of more than 40 weeks.
During the airplay monitoring era, there has been just one song that has had the enduring strength to spend a full year on the chart – The Glorious Sons’ “S.O.S.”
