According to Swedish news site Nt.se, former members of Ghost who had a legal dispute with band leader Tobias Forge (Papa Emeritus, Cardinal Copia, Main-Band-Dude) want a new trial. The case arose from a dispute over unpaid royalties and was settled in Forge’s favor earlier this year. The former members believe conspiracy is afoot because the presiding judge and Tobias are both Freemasons.
If you don’t know what Freemasonry is, here is a helpful guide.
While Freemasons are required to help a member in need, this doesn’t extend to preferential treatment in a legal setting. The judge would still be required to do his job.
Chances are, this isn’t going to go anywhere. It is purely coincidental that Forge and the judge are both members of the Swedish Order of Freemasons. However, stranger things have happened…
We will keep you posted as the story develops.
