We understand that Linkin Park fans are desperate for news, any news on if or when the band will continue on without Chester Bennington, who of course tragically committed suicide in July of 2017. The latest rumor has former Of Mice & Men singer Austin Carlile taking over Chester’s spot in Linkin Park. It all started after Austin himself posted on his Instagram story footage of him performing with Linkin Park with the caption,
‘It’s not over yet. The newest next chapter is coming.”
After that he posted a separate video of him performing “Faint” with Bennington and the rest of Linkin Park from 2014.
This of course led fans to speculate that Austin was in fact joining Linkin Park and that an announcement must be coming soon. Of course like any good rumor certain rock websites picked this up and ran with it. This included Loudwire to which Austin went to Twitter and responded.
Chester is one in a billion. There’s no way myself or anyone else for that matter would ever be able to replace him. Performing “Faint” every night on our European tour together & festivals stateside, was one of the most special memories of my career. New project, yes. LP, no.

So no, by the looks of it Austin Carlile is not joining Linkin Park.
