Spurred by the 733,000 records that were sold during Record Store Day week in April, vinyl sales hit their 3rd largest sales figure since 1991 when the SoundScan era began. According to Billboard in the first half 2018 sales were up 19.2% over the same time period last year. In total 7.6 million albums have been sold since the end of December 2017. That equates to 11.2% percent of all albums sold and 18.7% of all physical albums sold. The highest selling record during the first half of the year is the latest effort by Jack White ‘Boarding House Reach.’
