Back in August, we told you of Dave Grohl’s 23 minute long song called “Play.” In the video, which first aired as a 2 part documentary, Dave Grohl plays all 7 instruments in the song. He’s said that he wanted to do a live version and we assumed that the instrument he would pick to play would be the drums… we were correct. The video airs in parts with the first 11 minutes above. The rest of the song can be found in the videos below.
Grohl handled drums, Queens of the Stone Age’s Alain Johannes and Jason Falkner played guitar, along with Laundry Room Studios’ (LRS) Barrett Jones. Kurstin, also of LRS was on keyboards, with Chris Chaney of Jane’s Addiction on bass, and Foo Fighter collaborator Drew Hester on percussion.
Below is the produced video of Dave Grohl playing all 7 instruments. He filmed himself playing each instrument one at a time and then laid the tracks over top of each other for the video. That’s 2 hours and 41 minutes of playing if he went through each instrument with only one take by the way.
Can't wait to #PLAY with these guys tomorrow night! LOOK OUT ASHEVILLE!
