According to the Pitchfork, Dolores O’Riordan died by accidental drowning.
O’Riordan was found completely submerged in the bath of her hotel room in London the morning of January 15th, hours before she was set to record guest vocals for Bad Wolves’s version of her song “Zombie”.
The coroner has commented on her death calling it a “tragic accident”.
O’Riordans blood-alcohol level was reported to be nearly “…4 times above the .80mg legal limit for driving.”
While no signs of self harm were discovered at the scene, police did find several bottles containing an “unidentified liquid” and an empty of bottle of champagne, as well as various bottles of medication. Those bottles still contained medication and aren’t suspected to have contributed to O’Riordan’s passing.
Bad Wolves have gone on to donate 250,000$ of the proceeds from “Zombie” to O’Riordan’s family.
