WHILE THE ENTIRE MUSIC COMMUNITY WAITS PATIENTLY FOR A SYSTEM OF A DOWN RECORD…
Sorry, I had to get that out.
There’s been some news out of the System of a Down camp (or SOAD if you’re into the whole brevity thing) concerning bassist Shavo Odadjian and drummer John Dolmayan.
A post went up on Dolmayan’s instagram showing Odadjian switching from his usual position on bass to jamming on a guitar.
No word, of course, whether or not this is just the long-time bandmates jamming together or this is an actual project. Dolmayan has been working on a supposed covers record with his band These Grey Men.
It seems the members of SOAD don’t want to remain quiet, they just don’t want to do a SOAD album. Serj Tankian and guitarist Daron Malakian have also been working on new music, but when talks of a new album stalled, both members redirected that music elsewhere, with Malakian putting together a new Scars on Broadway album and Serj focusing on an upcoming solo project.
As the caption says, “…Stay tuned.”
