Metallica on Thursday June 14 accepted the Polar Music Prize in Sweden. An award for international recognition of excellence in the world of music. Metallica donated the $125,000 they received to their All Within My Hands foundation. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich said this during their acceptance speech:
“Who would have thought, when Metallica started this musical journey 37 years ago, that one day we would be standing in front of both musical royalty and actual royalty, accepting one of the most prestigious prizes that can be bestowed upon musicians?”
The fun part came during a performance of Metallica’s classic “Enter Sandman” when Ghost leader Cardinal Copia got on stage with members of the legendary Swedish metal band Candlemass. Check out the performance below and for more on the Polar Music Prize click here.
